Language Fun !

Language Fun !

The love of the language
Expressed in poetry to assuage
A desire to create.
Using words to gauge
The depth in sentences.
Finding meaning at every stage.

The nouns in sentences,
Meant to avoid pretences.
Precisely refer
To Mr. Brown, the House, the Jolly Town or simply the Clown !
Or an event if one prefers.
Like the Ball at the Simpsons.
Distinguishing Proper from Common.
Naming a person in particular
Or define a class all common.
Countable to Uncountable.
A noun singular !
Collective to Possessive.
A pride of lions,
Or a book that is mine
A noun that brings a sense of belonging !

A verb comes handy
To describe work dandy.
Take action, depict an occurrence.
Or suffix them forming gerunds.
Playing with a gaggle of geese
Or teasing a swarm of bees !
Marching like an Army of soldiers
Or sailing with a crew of sailors !
Smelling a bouquet of flowers
To watching a galaxy of stars !

And when one doesn’t like to name,
Pronoun can with an equal ease play the game.
I, you, he, she function
As good as his, her, ours without a mention
Of the perfect noun in question.

There are adverbs to modify
Any verb, adverb, adjective
Or any sentence, preposition to qualify.
Answering questions
Like how, where, when, in what manner,
She sings loudly
Or she sings very loudly
The loudly and very used to qualify
The verb in the sentence
Or another adverb modify.

Such a twist and turn
This language can churn,
When adjectives describe nouns adding more fun
Like the woman’s messy bun !
A wordplay this bun,
Oh it’s a pun !
Such elegance this language can bring
With adjectives to give the inanimate, wings !

The new classes are fun to work,
Adding a newness to the centuries old grammar world.
Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs
Let us bring a trail of new words.
Flexible, they like yogic postures change
Unlike pronouns that do not like to change.
Stiff like stalwarts, pronouns don’t shift shape
Their path or any new word take !

The language has Determiners too
Words demonstrative or interrogatives - the, a, an or what, when, which
Possessives such as my and whose
Role of a determiner can also be played
By noun possessive forms such as Sam’s and the lad’s
Or by quantifying words like all, some, many, various
Or simply use numerals to quantify
Phrases can replace numbers such as - a couple of.
Pronouns too as determiners qualify !

Prepositions, adpositions,
Is another class of words
Expressing spatial and temporal relations.
In, Under, Before, Towards.
Just a few well known words.
Conjunctions used to add to the play,
Relating, Co- relating things, phrases, clauses, sentences as one may !

The language as flowery as flowery can be
Is truly a boon to express freely !
